ink, digital collage

An unfolding story, drawn with a nib and colored with scraps of paper. Jean/Hans Arp is one of my favorite artists, and I’ve always been inspired by his dedication to accident, and the way it grew from the semi-standard dada obsessions of his early work to the quiet sophistication of his late sculptures. In an attempt ot inject some chaos into the process of digital coloring, I tore up some scraps of paper, scanned them in and constrained myself to only using them for secondary colors. This made the whole process incredibly long, but far less predictable than the standard comics coloring pipeline. jjokk press, 2020
